Latvia’s involvement in strikes on Russian territory will not go unanswered, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said.

According to Galuzin, Riga is mistaken if it believes it can take part in anti-Russian military provocations and terrorist attacks by the Kiev regime against Russian civilians while hiding behind NATO and presenting its actions as defensive. His comments were reported by RIA Novosti.

The deputy foreign minister said Moscow is closely monitoring not only the decision-making centers linked to attacks on civilians and drone launches against Russian facilities, but also the sites where such unmanned aerial vehicles are produced. Galuzin stressed that the jurisdiction of these facilities does not matter.

Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were preparing a new wave of attacks on Russia’s rear regions. According to the agency, Kiev may use the territory of the Baltic states to reduce drone flight times.

Ukrainian drones have recently been regularly entering the airspace of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The Baltic states, however, claim they have not allowed Ukraine to use their airspace for attacks on Russia. Moscow responded by sending them a special warning.

The statement came shortly after Latvian President Edgars Rinkevichs said he did not rule out escalation by Russia against NATO and urged the alliance to prepare a response to such a scenario.
