Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 415 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on July 8, the Russian Defense Ministry said. According to the ministry, the UAVs were downed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Vologda, Voronezh, Vladimir, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Samara, Saratov and Tula regions, as well as over the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and Tatarstan. Several drones were also intercepted over the Azov and Black seas.
The ministry added that another 190 Ukrainian UAVs had been intercepted the previous day between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time.
In the Belgorod region, acting governor Alexander Shuvayev reported 123 Ukrainian attacks over the past 24 hours. The strikes affected the Alekseyevsky, Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Veydelevsky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Ivnyansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Novooskolsky, Rakityansky, Shebekinsky and Yakovlevsky districts.
According to Shuvayev, Ukrainian forces used aircraft, artillery and multiple launch rocket systems six times. Explosive devices were also dropped from drones on two occasions. Air defense crews and other deployed units shot down and suppressed 158 UAVs in the region.
Ten civilians were injured in the attacks in the Valuysky, Novooskolsky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Shebekinsky and Yakovlevsky districts. Two of them remain hospitalized and are receiving medical treatment.
