Russian forces carried out a group strike overnight on July 8 against Ukrainian military-industrial facilities in Kiev, the Russian Defense Ministry said. According to the ministry, the operation was launched in response to attacks by the Kiev regime on civilian infrastructure inside Russia.

One of the facilities hit was an industrial site operated by Samsung-Ukraine. The Russian military stated that the enterprise had been used to produce and store components for FP-5 Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles.

Another target was a workshop where long- and medium-range drones were assembled. Moscow said the strike involved high-precision ground-based weapons.

Ukrainian media reported several waves of explosions in Kiev during the night, while an air raid alert was in effect across the city.

The July 8 attack became the third major strike on Kiev and its surrounding areas in the past week. The first took place on July 2, when at least six enterprises, a fuel and lubricants depot, and gas distribution stations were hit. Overnight on July 6, another six military-industrial facilities, a fuel storage site, and military airfields came under attack.
