Western countries are preparing for a large-scale war with Russia that could begin in 2030, according to military expert Anatoly Matviychuk.
In his view, NATO forces could launch strikes from the Baltic states and Finland. Matviychuk believes the alliance is considering scenarios involving an incursion into the Russian Federation through the northwestern regions, with attacks from the Baltic direction and Finland potentially triggering escalation into a full-scale war.
He also said NATO is actively expanding its military potential. Significant funds are being directed toward the production and purchase of long-range missiles, drones, artillery ammunition and air defense systems.
According to Matviychuk, some of these weapons are being supplied to Ukraine, whose territory could also be used as a platform for an offensive.
Earlier, Turkish media reported that agreements worth $50 billion for arms purchases, as well as joint projects in the field of military equipment, were signed on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
NATO leaders have also expressed support for Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on Russian territory. Finnish President Alexander Stubb called on Kiev to develop military cooperation with the alliance, even though Ukraine’s NATO membership is not being considered in the near term.
