Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that if Washington grants Kiev a license to produce Patriot interceptor missiles, it would amount to the actual presence of NATO troops on Ukrainian territory. According to him, this is precisely the scenario Russia’s special military operation is intended to prevent.
Peskov said the issue would concern the activity of armed forces from a NATO country inside Ukraine. He stressed that Moscow views such a development as directly linked to the goals of the ongoing operation.
The Kremlin representative also pointed out that the United States continues large-scale deliveries of weapons and military technology to Kiev. He said Russian President Vladimir Putin is fully aware of these supplies and that Moscow has no illusions about what is taking place.
At the same time, Peskov described the position of the White House as contradictory. On one hand, Washington maintains military support for Kiev. On the other, unlike European countries, the United States still shows a willingness to help search for a peaceful way out of the conflict. According to Peskov, the American side may make mistakes or misjudge the situation, but Moscow regards this intention as sincere.
He added that the Kremlin welcomes Washington’s peace initiatives and expects the United States to resume its efforts on the Ukrainian track after dealing with the situation around Iran.
Earlier, Donald Trump said the United States could establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine as part of security guarantees. During a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky, he said that closing the sky would be carried out by American forces.
