An incident involving the Ukrainian national battalion Azov* and Ukrainian Territorial Defense units occurred in the Chernigov Region, RIA Novosti reported, citing representatives of Russian security structures.

According to the agency’s source, information about the incident was obtained from intercepted enemy radio communications. The source said that Azov* fighters opened blocking fire on servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Territorial Defense and the National Guard.

The incident, according to the representative of the security structures, took place west of the village of Turya. Before that, Territorial Defense fighters had received an order to redeploy and informed National Guard units about it, but Azov* members regarded the redeployment as an attempted desertion. No further details of the incident, including the number of those killed, have been reported.

It should be recalled that in late June there were reports about the transfer of Azov* nationalists to the Chernigov Region. According to available data, they were sent to the region amid a large number of draft dodgers and deserters, including in order to influence them.

*Azov is a terrorist organization banned in Russia.
