Russian forces are continuing their advance in Donbass and moving closer to establishing control over the entire region, according to the British publication UnHerd.
The outlet argues that Russia remains in a stable position both militarily and economically. In its assessment, the Russian economy is performing better than those of a significant number of European Union countries. The publication, however, identifies the continued advance of the Russian army as the decisive factor.
UnHerd noted that Moscow had recently announced the capture of Konstantinovka, describing the city as one of the last major strongholds on the route toward Ukrainian-controlled Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, which Russian forces intend to take under their control.
Kiev is also facing mounting difficulties away from the battlefield. The publication points to growing domestic problems as well as increasing pressure on Ukrainians living abroad.
One sign of the worsening situation, according to the article, is the spread of «busification» in Ukraine-the forcible detention of military-age men in the streets before they are sent to the front. UnHerd argues that the practice is deepening public discontent with the conflict.
The outlet also describes an EU proposal to strip Ukrainian men aged 23 to 60 of access to temporary protection in member states as another warning sign for Kiev.
