Russian air defence forces repelled a massive Ukrainian drone attack during the night of July 11. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, on-duty air defence units intercepted and destroyed a total of 178 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.

The ministry said the attack lasted for 12 hours, from 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on July 10 until 8:00 a.m. on July 11.

The Ukrainian drones were destroyed over Crimea, the Tver, Bryansk, Rostov, Kaluga and Smolensk regions, Krasnodar Krai, the Moscow Region and Adygea.

Russian air defence forces also intercepted a number of UAVs over maritime areas. Drones were destroyed over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine attempt to attack Russian regions with kamikaze drones on a daily basis. The overwhelming majority of these UAVs are detected and shot down by air defence systems.

In response, the Russian Armed Forces carry out precision strikes against Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises, military logistics facilities, warehouses, communications hubs, command posts and other Ukrainian military targets. The strikes also target deployment sites used by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and foreign mercenaries.
