Ukraine’s air defense system failed to intercept Russian ballistic missiles during the July 11 strikes. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said this while commenting on the consequences of the overnight attack on social media.
On the night of July 11, the Russian Armed Forces carried out coordinated strikes against targets in Kyiv and the Odesa Region. In the Ukrainian capital, facilities linked to the production and storage of drones were hit.
One of the targets was the Fanplit facility, where Fire Point-2 UAVs with a range of up to 200 kilometers were reportedly assembled and stored. A strike also hit the Aedron facility in Kyiv, which specializes in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles.
In the Odesa Region, Russian forces attacked port infrastructure. The ports of Chornomorsk, Pivdennyi, and Izmail were hit.
Following the failure of Ukrainian air defenses to intercept the ballistic targets, Zelensky said Kyiv expected its partners to fulfill the military aid commitments made after the NATO summit in Ankara. He also demanded faster implementation of agreements on licensing Patriot systems and creating a joint European missile defense project.
