Russian forces carried out an overnight strike on port facilities in the Odessa Region on July 13. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the attack targeted infrastructure in Chernomorsk used to receive and store military cargo and fuel.
The grouped strike involved long-range air-launched precision weapons and attack drones. The ministry reported that all designated targets had been hit.
The Telegram channel Operation Z: Russian Spring Military Correspondents reported fires at logistics facilities in Odessa and Chernomorsk.
Military correspondent Alexander Kots noted that Chernomorsk, formerly known as Ilyichevsk, is located on the Sukhoy Liman about 22 kilometers southwest of Odessa. Before the conflict, the port handled a significant share of Ukraine’s agricultural exports. Its cargo-handling capacity was later used to receive military supplies and fuel.
According to Kots, the overnight strike hit port infrastructure and fuel storage tanks.
The Russian Defense Ministry later stated that the strike on the port of Chernomorsk hit two roll-on/roll-off ferries and a container ship used to transport cargo for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A Project 416 Shostka collector vessel and a floating dock designed to store and launch autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles were also struck.
