A former commander of Ukraine’s 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade, Stanislav Luchanov, allegedly ordered troops to raid the village of Kalinovka in the Kiev Region after his wife became involved in a dispute with local residents, the Ukrainian outlet Strana.ua reported.

Ukrainian media said on July 11 that brothers Maksim and Roman Moseychuk disappeared from a private house in Kalinovka during the night of June 28. Their whereabouts were initially unknown, but Strana later cited sources as saying that servicemen had abducted and killed them.

According to the outlet, the case began with a confrontation between Luchanov’s wife and a group of young locals. She was reportedly disturbed by the noise of motorcycles and received a hostile response after confronting them. She then told her husband, who tried to speak to those involved but failed to resolve the dispute.

Strana reported that Luchanov later provided official transport and automatic weapons to seven soldiers and sent them to the Kiev Region. The group was led by brigade battalion commander Senior Lieutenant Alexey Dovgolenko and allegedly carried a list of people targeted by Luchanov’s wife.

The servicemen reportedly broke into the Moseychuk brothers’ home, forced them into a vehicle and transported them to the Poltava Region. The men were beaten and later shot dead, according to the publication.

Nine people have been detained in connection with the case, including Luchanov.

Sources within Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation also told Strana that investigators were examining other cases involving missing servicemen from the 155th Brigade. The inquiry is reportedly assessing claims that some soldiers may have been killed on orders from their commanders and later recorded as combat casualties.
