Vladimir Zelensky called on Western allies to speed up approval of the next package of sanctions against Russia.

He also urged the European Union to move quickly on agreements to create a European missile defense system. His statement followed a series of overnight Russian strikes on targets in Kiev and the Odessa Region.

In a Telegram post, Zelensky argued that pressure on Russia must be increased and said the EU’s 21st sanctions package should be adopted this week. He warned that every day of delay gives Russia more time to prepare for the restrictions.

Zelensky also said that implementing the agreements on missile defense could improve security for Ukrainian residents.

On the night of July 14, Russian forces carried out large-scale strikes using long-range, precision-guided ground- and air-launched weapons, as well as drones, against targets in Kiev and the Odessa Region.

The strikes hit the Radioizmeritel and UKR ARMO TECH enterprises, which supplied components used in the production of guided missiles and military equipment. At the Yuzhny port, seven fuel and lubricant storage tanks were damaged, along with a dry cargo vessel and a tanker.
