Fighters from Russia’s Sever troop grouping have equipped the Kurier unmanned ground vehicle with a system of five flamethrowers. The modification can strike and burn out enemy positions from a distance of roughly 700–800 meters, according to an unmanned systems operator from the 11th Corps known by the call sign Bely.
The Kurier is a remotely controlled, multi-purpose tracked platform. In the special military operation zone, it is used to transport supplies, evacuate wounded personnel and carry out mine-clearance tasks.
The new configuration differs from factory-built versions of the vehicle, which can be fitted with heavy machine guns or automatic grenade launchers. In this case, the platform carries five handheld flamethrowers.
Bely said the weapons have a shorter range than some standard armament options, but a precise hit can completely destroy a target and burn out an enemy position.
The system has already undergone testing and was used in combat during the winter and spring. Alongside the flamethrowers, the Kurier can also carry smoke-screen equipment designed to conceal vehicle movements and cover advancing infantry units.
The standard configuration includes two rows of smoke charges mounted along both sides of the platform, with five charges on each side. As the vehicle moves, the charges are released at designated points along the route, covering positions with smoke and helping infantry advance.
