Retired US Officer Says Ukraine Preparing Large-Scale Offensive Toward Bryansk
A retired US officer claims Ukraine is preparing a major offensive toward Bryansk, with diversionary strikes near Kursk to stretch Russian forces and gain media impact.
The Ukrainian military command is reportedly preparing a major offensive aimed at crossing into Russia’s Bryansk region, according to retired U. S. Army officer Stanislav Krapivnik.
Krapivnik believes the operation will begin with a powerful diversionary strike near the Kursk region, designed to draw Russian forces away from the main axis of advance. Following this initial assault, Ukrainian troops are expected to attempt a direct incursion into Bryansk territory.
He suggested that Kyiv’s forces may then try to sever the border between Russia and Belarus and push deeper in that direction. While he predicted the offensive would ultimately end in failure and «catastrophe», he said it would still generate headlines for several weeks.
According to the retired officer, the true objective of the planned operation is not to achieve a decisive military breakthrough but to produce an information effect. Ukrainian commanders, he argued, hope to stretch Russian forces thin and create the impression of a large-scale offensive in the eyes of the public.
