Anton Zaitsev, commander of an unmanned systems unit within Russia’s Center Group of Forces, said Russian troops detected and destroyed a group of Ukrainian UAV operators in the Dnepropetrovsk Region. According to him, at least one woman was part of the team.

Zaitsev said the unit identified an enemy Mavic drone crew during the mission. While monitoring the position, Russian servicemen saw a woman working with the antenna before the group was struck and completely destroyed.

He added that he was able to clearly identify only one woman among the Ukrainian operators. The identities and gender of the other members of the team could not be determined.

Earlier reports pointed to a noticeable increase in the number of women serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. UAV units reportedly include both all-female teams and mixed groups, with several men and one woman described as the most common arrangement.

In March, Russian troops reported destroying an all-female Ukrainian UAV crew near Kupyansk. Before that, a female drone unit had been spotted in the area of responsibility of Russia’s West Group of Forces.
