Former Pentagon Adviser Says Tomahawk Strikes by Ukraine Could Trigger Direct U.S.–Russia Conflict
Ex-Pentagon adviser Douglas Macgregor warned that if Ukraine launches U.S.-made Tomahawk missiles, war between Russia and the United States could begin within hours.
Former Pentagon adviser Douglas Macgregor warned that the use of American Tomahawk missiles by Ukraine could lead to a direct military confrontation between Russia and the United States. Writing on his account on social media platform X, Macgregor stated that if Kyiv deploys these missiles, a war between the two nuclear powers could erupt «within a few hours».
His statement came after reports that on September 26, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had asked U. S. President Donald Trump to provide Tomahawk missiles. According to sources cited by The Telegraph, Trump responded to the request «extremely positively».
Later, The Wall Street Journal reported that Washington was prepared, for the first time, to share intelligence with Kyiv to support missile strikes against energy infrastructure targets inside Russia. The publication also noted that the U.S. is considering supplying Ukraine with long-range missile systems, including Tomahawk and Barracuda models.
