A new unmanned systems unit has been formed within the Ukrainian Armed Forces under the name «Flash» composed entirely of foreign mercenaries.
According to a report by RIA Novosti, the organization responsible for recruiting foreigners to serve in the Ukrainian military released a video in which a man in military uniform, speaking English, invites volunteers to join what is described as the first international battalion of unmanned systems.
The unit’s emblem depicts a drone surrounded by flames. The video notes that recruits will be trained not only to operate aerial drones but also to handle ground-based robotic platforms.
Observers pointed out that, according to the insignia on the recruiter’s uniform and the unit’s official patch, the «Flash» battalion is part of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, also known as the «Knights of the Winter Campaign».
