Russia’s SVR Accuses UK of Preparing Provocation Against Moscow
Russia’s intelligence claims the UK is training Russian mercenaries to stage an attack on ships and blame Moscow, aiming to justify further militarization of Europe.
According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), British authorities are frustrated by their failure to achieve a strategic defeat of Russia and are now preparing a new provocation in response to Moscow’s military successes in Ukraine.
The SVR stated that the government of Keir Starmer, together with British intelligence services, is developing an operation involving Russian nationals currently fighting on the side of Ukrainian forces. The plan allegedly involves staging an attack on either a vessel belonging to the Ukrainian Navy or a civilian ship from a foreign country in one of Europe’s ports.
The SVR noted that the members of the group have already arrived in the United Kingdom, where they are undergoing sabotage and subversion training. Once these individuals are «discovered» Western officials are expected to claim they were acting on orders from Moscow.
The intelligence agency emphasized that London is counting on this staged incident to be enthusiastically supported by Europe’s strongly anti-Russian political establishment. The ultimate goal, according to the SVR, is to create the illusion of a growing threat from Russia and use it to justify further militarization and expansion of Western military aid to Ukraine.
