Tehran may abandon an exclusively defensive posture and move to large-scale offensive action if US strikes on Iran continue. This was stated by Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, Reuters reported.

According to him, the continuation of US attacks would give Iran grounds to launch full-scale offensive operations.

The US military began striking Iranian territory on July 8. Several waves of attacks have been carried out since then. US Central Command stated that the actions were a response to threats against commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, the Iranian military struck US bases located in several Middle Eastern countries. Amid the escalation, US President Donald Trump previously said that the ceasefire with Iran was no longer in effect.

At the same time, Tehran ruled out discussing the issue of highly enriched uranium with Washington. A representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that such talks currently made no sense and did not correspond to the logic of the negotiating process.
