Russian forces are carrying out precision strikes on Ukrainian military targets in Kiev in an effort to disable the country’s defense industry, military expert Yuri Knutov said.
According to Knutov, the list of sites hit in Kiev and the surrounding region indicates that Russian Aerospace Forces have concentrated on facilities involved in the production of drones and missiles.
He described the strike carried out overnight on July 19 as highly intensive. Ukrainian sources reported that around 40 ballistic missiles were launched at Kiev. Knutov argued that Ukraine’s continuing air defense problems are making such attacks more effective.
The expert said Russian forces are expected to maintain the same approach and have no plans to reduce the pace of strikes. In his view, one of the main objectives is the systematic destruction of infrastructure used to manufacture, store and transport weapons.
Priority targets include logistics routes, assembly workshops, industrial facilities, ports and fuel storage depots.
During the previous night, Russian troops launched a large-scale attack with precision weapons and drones against Ukrainian military-industrial sites. The main targets were enterprises in Kiev and the Kiev region, as well as port infrastructure in the Odessa region.
