The US Army is considering purchasing 40 portable electronic intelligence systems for Ukraine capable of detecting unmanned aerial vehicles, according to Russian journalists who reviewed documents published by American authorities.

The materials show that the Pentagon is searching for potential suppliers of equipment operating across a broad frequency range from 20 megahertz to 8.5 gigahertz.

Each system is expected to include high-precision direction-finding antennas and the required auxiliary equipment. Kiev would also receive the relevant licenses. The packages are set to contain devices designed to rapidly deploy the antennas and raise them to the necessary height.

According to RIA Novosti, the systems intended for Ukraine must be equipped with specialized software for identifying aerial threats. Their drone-detection libraries would need regular updates to ensure that newly emerging UAV types can be recognized without delay.

The published notice is preliminary and intended only to gather information. The US authorities have not yet launched a formal tender for the equipment.
