Representatives of the drone detection company Ten said the Hornet strike drone uses a chip commonly found in modern smartphones as part of its onboard computer.

According to the specialists, the main threat comes from the PRISMA software suite installed on the aircraft’s single-board computer. The system gives the drone machine-vision capabilities, while its Qualcomm chip handles military artificial intelligence tasks.

The first video evidence of the Hornet’s use emerged in March, when footage showed the drone flying over Donetsk.

The strike UAV is manufactured by the US company Swift Beat LLC, which has been linked to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

Ten’s developers said Schmidt had made repeated visits to Ukraine since 2022, meeting Ukrainian commanders and drone operators. They suggested that information gathered during those trips may have contributed to the development of the aircraft.

The Hornet, also known as Marsianin-2, belongs to the loitering munition class. One of its defining features is an electro-optical guidance system capable of identifying and locking onto targets with the help of artificial intelligence.
