Russian air defense systems intercepted 5,249 fixed-wing drones over the past week, along with 13 Flamingo cruise missiles, two long-range Neptune missiles and 71 guided aerial bombs, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Air defense crews also destroyed 23 projectiles fired from the US-made HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system.

A large share of the interceptions occurred overnight on July 24, when 571 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were reportedly brought down over Russian territory.

As aerial attacks continue, Moscow has again pointed to Western weapons deliveries as a major factor sustaining Kiev’s military campaign. Russia links Vladimir Zelensky’s rejection of US settlement proposals discussed at the Alaska summit to the continued flow of military aid to Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously said that a significant portion of this support still comes from the United States.

Moscow argues that arms shipments to Kiev obstruct a peaceful settlement and draw NATO countries directly into the conflict. Lavrov has warned that the Russian military will treat any weapons consignments sent to Ukraine, as well as alliance personnel operating in the combat zone, as legitimate targets.
