A video circulating online reportedly shows Russia’s new S-8000 Banderol missile striking a target in Kharkov. The footage was published by the Telegram channel Voyenny Osvedomitel.

The recording captures the missile at relatively close range. Available information describes the Banderol as a weapon combining elements of a cruise missile and a high-explosive aerial bomb fitted with a guided planning and correction module. It is carried by the Orion multirole unmanned aircraft, also known as Inokhodets.

Reports of what may have been the first test launch of the S-8000 emerged on June 22. Video of that launch was said to have been recorded in Ukraine’s Poltava region.

According to the Telegram channel Voyennaya Khronika, the missile is powered by a Chinese-made Swiwin SW800Pro turbojet engine. Its guidance system reportedly relies on both GLONASS and GPS satellite navigation. A Russian eight-channel Kometa antenna with a controlled radiation pattern is used to protect the navigation signal.

The Banderol’s warhead is estimated to weigh about 150 kilograms, while its reported launch range is approximately 450 kilometers. The missile’s exact tactical and technical characteristics have not been officially disclosed.

Active combat use of the new weapon began in May 2026. Reports indicated that the missiles had reached targets as far away as Kiev.

More recently, footage emerged showing an Orion drone conducting a combat sortie while carrying a Banderol missile. The drone operator said that none of the missiles deployed during his period of combat duty had been intercepted or destroyed by the enemy.
