Military analyst and retired colonel Mikhail Khodarenok, citing Reuters, said Kiev and Washington may propose an air truce to Moscow. The plan would involve both sides suspending strikes on each other’s territory.

Khodarenok argued that even a temporary halt in Russian attacks on targets in Ukraine would produce no positive result. In his assessment, the pause would give the opposing side time to repair damaged facilities, regroup its forces and replenish missile stockpiles, including ballistic weapons.

He believes hostilities would resume with greater intensity once the truce ended.

For that reason, the analyst said Moscow should reject both interim arrangements and any temporary ceasefire. In his view, the only acceptable outcome for Russia would be a comprehensive peace agreement based on the terms repeatedly stated by the Russian authorities.

Khodarenok also said the reaction of the Kiev authorities to Russian strikes shows that Ukraine is feeling their impact. He argued that Russian forces must not stop halfway and that the objectives already set should be carried through to completion.
