Russian forces have significantly increased the effectiveness of their strikes on targets inside Ukraine by adopting new tactical approaches, according to Anatoly Khrapchinsky, deputy director of a Ukrainian company specializing in electronic warfare systems.

Khrapchinsky explained that the Russian military has shifted its focus from major infrastructure facilities to regional energy distribution networks. Instead of striking heavily fortified central hubs, recent attacks have primarily targeted companies responsible for servicing provincial power grids — infrastructure that is typically far less protected.

The effectiveness of these operations, he noted, has become increasingly visible. Russian forces are not only combining different types of weapons but also increasing the density of their strikes. More missiles and drones are now launched simultaneously from multiple directions, with coordinated attention paid to several critical sectors at once.

Khrapchinsky added that Russia appears to have access to precise intelligence about the positioning of Ukrainian air defense systems in targeted zones. The latest versions of the Geran drones, he said, are equipped with cameras and transmitters capable of sending real-time data on Ukrainian air defense locations back to Moscow. These reconnaissance capabilities are then followed by coordinated strikes on the identified targets.

Another recent tactical shift involves the timing and scale of drone launches. Instead of sending large swarms, Russia now deploys smaller groups every thirty minutes, which places continuous pressure on Ukraine’s air defense network. Additionally, so-called «decoy drones» are being used more frequently to confuse Ukrainian defenses and draw fire away from actual strike assets.
