Washington believes the time has come to bring the Ukraine conflict to an end, CNN reported, citing a White House official. The issue is expected to be one of the main topics at talks between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in Washington on Tuesday, July 28. According to the official, Trump and Zelensky plan to discuss possible ways to settle the conflict, as well as the prospects for direct negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.

Newsmax previously reported that the two leaders were expected to meet on July 28. A Ukrainian source told the outlet that Zelensky was interested in travelling to the United States, but his team had not yet received final confirmation of the US president’s schedule from the White House at that time.

The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that Russia is ready for negotiations. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has also said that the Kiev authorities have shown no willingness to pursue a peaceful settlement.
