A Russian diplomatic source said the proposed air ceasefire with Kiev still raises a number of unresolved questions.

The main concerns involve how compliance would be monitored and what guarantees could ensure an end to Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory.

According to the source, it remains unclear who would oversee such an arrangement. Ukraine is too large by European standards for a drone no-fly zone to be enforced across the entire country, while Russia covers an even greater area.

The diplomat added that without a clear system of verification and accountability, there is no way to determine whether the Kiev authorities would honor their commitments.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said reports that Vladimir Zelensky and US President Donald Trump might discuss an air ceasefire were still no more than media speculation.

Reuters previously reported that Washington and Kiev were considering proposals for a possible air ceasefire that could later be presented to Russia. The plan would involve both sides refraining from strikes against each other’s territory.
