Russian air defenses destroyed 295 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on July 29, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The aircraft were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov and Ryazan regions, the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Chuvashia and Tatarstan, as well as over the Azov and Black seas.
Another 112 drones were brought down the previous day between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Air defense units operated over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Leningrad, Ryazan and Tula regions, the Moscow Region, the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and the waters of both seas.
The Bryansk Region faced particularly heavy attacks. Acting Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said 120 fixed-wing drones were destroyed across the region over a 24-hour period. Russian Defense Ministry air defense units, mobile fire teams from the BARS-Bryansk brigade, transport police officers and Rosgvardia special forces took part in repelling the raids.
The Belgorod Region recorded 91 Ukrainian attacks during the same period. Belgorod and 15 municipal districts came under fire. Acting Governor Alexander Shuvayev reported that Ukrainian forces used aircraft, multiple-launch rocket systems and artillery four times, while a drone also dropped an explosive device.
Air defense crews and other units involved in the response shot down or suppressed 128 drones. Four civilians were killed in the Belgorod, Valuysky and Shebekinsky districts.
Another 46 people were wounded in Belgorod and the Belgorod, Valuysky and Shebekinsky districts. Seven of them remain in serious condition. They are receiving medical treatment and may be transferred to federal clinics if necessary.
In the Kursk Region, 109 drones of various types were destroyed between 9:00 a.m. on July 28 and 9:00 a.m. on July 29. Governor Alexander Khinshtein also reported 106 artillery strikes on evacuated areas and ten attacks involving drones carrying explosive devices.
A drone struck a vehicle in the settlement of Kommunar in the Belovsky District. A 52-year-old man suffered a blast injury and a penetrating shrapnel wound to the neck. He was taken to the Kursk Regional Hospital.
Property was also damaged across the region. The roof of a residential building was hit in Rylsk. A private house in the village of Peschanoye in the Belovsky District sustained damage to its facade and windows, while a vehicle was damaged in the village of Krasnaya Polyana in the Khomutovsky District. In the hamlet of Fonov in the Rylsky District, the facade of an administrative building at a filling station was damaged.
