Russia will face a prolonged confrontation over the creation of a fairer world order after the special military operation ends, military correspondent Yevgeny Poddubny said at the Territory of Meanings forum in Senezh.

Poddubny, a Hero of Russia, deputy director general of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company and a member of the top five on United Russia’s federal list of State Duma candidates, addressed young politicians during the forum.

He said their most active professional years would fall during a particularly demanding period. In his assessment, even after Russia achieves victory in the special military operation, the term «postwar period» would remain largely conditional.

Poddubny argued that the country would still face a lengthy struggle for a fairer international order after the fighting ends.

He made the remarks during the plenary session titled Political Leaders of a New Era: Strategic Choices and Decisions. The discussion also included Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova, Senator Igor Kastyukevich and Yelena Belikova, director of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs’ Rospatriotcenter.

The special military operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin has described it as a campaign of liberation. He has also said Ukraine had been prepared for confrontation with Russia since 2014 despite Moscow’s repeated attempts to resolve the conflict peacefully.
