Russia’s Armed Forces met their full-year personnel requirement within the first six months of the year, Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

Around 200,000 people signed military service contracts during the first half of the year. Medvedev also highlighted recruitment for the unmanned systems troops, which added approximately 40,000 service members. More than 16,000 Russians also went to the special military operation zone as volunteers during the same period.

The Security Council deputy chairman said there was no need for mobilization. He described claims suggesting otherwise as enemy disinformation, arguing that the opposing side was itself facing a shortage of personnel.

Medvedev addressed the issue during a meeting of the interdepartmental commission responsible for staffing the Russian Armed Forces. He also drew attention to social media posts urging people not to wait for mobilization and instead enlist for financial compensation. According to Medvedev, the campaign was a paid information operation organized by the enemy.

It was previously announced that the authorized strength of the Russian Armed Forces will increase by 25,000 personnel from August 1. President Vladimir Putin signed the corresponding decree.

Under the document, the military’s total authorized strength will rise to 2,426,130 positions, including 1,535,000 service members. The previous decree, dated June 12, set the number of military personnel at 1,510,000. The increase is linked to the formation of military construction units.
