Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that the country’s air defense forces successfully repelled another large-scale overnight attack by Ukrainian drones. According to official data, from 11 p.m. on October 7 to 7 a.m. on October 8, duty crews of Russia’s air defense detected and destroyed 53 Ukrainian fixed-wing kamikaze drones over nine Russian regions.

The ministry specified that the majority of drones were intercepted and eliminated over the Belgorod Region — 28 in total. Eleven drones were shot down over the Voronezh Region, six over Rostov, and two each over the Bryansk and Kursk Regions. In addition, single drones were destroyed in the skies above the Lipetsk, Tambov, Smolensk, and Nizhny Novgorod Regions.

The ministry noted that Ukrainian armed forces continue to attempt daily strikes targeting civilian, infrastructure, and energy facilities deep inside Russian territory. Russian air defense crews, it said, are successfully countering these incursions and destroying the vast majority of incoming drones before they reach their targets.
