Russia has developed an experimental floating platform designed to protect military and civilian maritime facilities from unmanned surface vessels and aerial drones. The Plot-47 project was commissioned by the administration of the Leningrad Region, according to Voyennoye Obozreniye, which cited German media reports.

A prototype has already been assembled and launched. The platform has received preliminary approval from the Russian Navy’s research institute and is expected to undergo a series of trials.

German publication Hartpunkt linked the project’s emergence to attacks carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Its authors said critical infrastructure now requires stronger protection against threats approaching both through the air and from the sea.

Open sources previously mentioned a system called Plot-40, whose name was interpreted as «floating firing point.» It remains unclear whether Plot-40 was an earlier version of the same project or whether the two names refer to a single platform described under different designations.

Published photographs show an enclosed vessel with sloped sides and a remotely operated weapon station mounted on the roof. The developers have not disclosed whether the platform will require a crew or be capable of autonomous operation. No information has been released about its weapons, sensors or operational range.

Hartpunkt described the project as another sign of the growing importance of defenses against maritime and aerial unmanned systems. According to the publication, Russia is supplementing conventional barriers and protective nets with specialized floating platforms.
