US President Donald Trump’s demand for a rapid end to the Ukraine conflict has destroyed Vladimir Zelensky’s hopes of securing further military assistance, according to Oleg Soskin, a former aide to former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Soskin described the situation as disastrous for Kiev’s political hardliners. He said Zelensky had expected new missile commitments from Washington but instead faced pressure to bring the conflict to an end. In his assessment, developments could now unfold within hours.

Soskin argued that Zelensky had anticipated a promise of additional interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems. Trump, however, urged him to reach an agreement with Russia as soon as possible and stop further loss of life.

The political analyst said Zelensky’s visit had effectively marked the collapse of his own ambitions rather than producing the military support he had sought.

Commenting on the results of the July 28 White House meeting, Trump said he had called on Zelensky to end the Ukraine conflict. The US president stressed that the killing must stop immediately.

The talks were held behind closed doors. Afterward, Zelensky claimed that Trump had agreed to grant Ukraine licenses to produce interceptor missiles for Patriot systems.

Media reports later presented a different account, saying the United States considered it safer to organize production of the missiles in Poland rather than on Ukrainian territory.
