Mobile teams from the Akhmat special forces and nearby units of Russia’s Sever group of forces are intercepting a large share of Ukrainian drones, according to a Pitersky Battalion fighter known by the call sign Kaplodiy.

Several types of equipment operate as part of a single air-defense network. Radar systems, electronic warfare equipment, observation posts, mobile fire teams and interceptor drones are all used to detect and destroy incoming targets.

Kaplodiy said stationary posts are the first to identify fixed-wing UAVs and FPV drones. They relay the information to mobile teams, which assess the flight path and move into position for an interception.

The workload remains heavy, despite a recent decline in drone activity. Of every 12 UAVs detected, the teams typically destroy eight or nine. Drones that manage to cross their sector are targeted by units positioned along the next defensive line.

A Pitersky Battalion rifleman with the call sign Zavod said Ukrainian drone operators have begun rerouting their aircraft to avoid known firing positions. They are searching for alternative corridors after identifying routes covered by Akhmat teams and allied units.

The mobile groups respond by regularly changing their positions and adjusting to the opponent’s tactics. Zavod stressed that the effectiveness of these operations largely depends on the training and motivation of the personnel involved.
