US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper has prepared a plan for a large-scale air operation against Iran, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing informed sources.

According to the newspaper, the proposal outlines an intensive bombing campaign that could continue for up to two weeks.

The sources said US President Donald Trump is considering two possible approaches. One would involve a broad series of airstrikes aimed at destroying Iran’s missile capabilities. The other would be a more limited military operation intended to increase diplomatic pressure on Tehran.

At the same time, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine warned Trump that the United States faces a serious shortage of air-defense missiles. He reportedly said that declining weapons stocks in the Middle East were already creating significant risks for US national security.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed possible joint action with Trump and Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth during a meeting this week. The talks focused on potential responses if a full-scale military campaign against Iran resumes.

On July 29, Trump said the United States was prepared to launch powerful strikes against Iran in response to a drone attack on the Egyptian port of Damietta. Reports said an American liquefied natural gas tanker and a Greek LNG tanker were damaged in the resulting fire.
