Russia continues to hold the upper hand in the conflict in Ukraine, according to former Pentagon adviser Douglas Macgregor.

Macgregor said Moscow was winning the war and no longer felt any goodwill toward Washington. He also argued that NATO had failed to ease tensions with Russia, with Ukraine bearing the heaviest consequences.

According to the former Pentagon adviser, the country has been devastated by the depletion of military personnel and weapons stockpiles, turning it into what he described as a graveyard.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Manila last week. Lavrov confirmed that Moscow still supports a settlement based on proposals formulated in Alaska in 2025. Rubio said new ideas and initiatives were needed to move the process forward.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously said that Russian forces would advance wherever necessary during the special military operation. He added that the fighting would end once Russia had achieved the objectives it had set.
