State Duma Defense Committee member Andrey Kolesnik said the conflict in Ukraine is gradually moving toward a decisive stage.

He argued that large-scale Russian strikes on Ukrainian targets are increasing pressure on the Kiev authorities both militarily and psychologically. In his view, Ukraine should consider ending the conflict and look for a way out of the crisis.

Kolesnik said the pressure must remain constant, without giving the opposing side time to recover. He added that sustained strikes would bring victory closer and said the conflict was moving toward a conclusion.

The lawmaker also predicted that the Ukrainian authorities would eventually try to open negotiations through intermediaries. According to him, certain contacts are already taking place.

Kolesnik stressed that Moscow’s conditions remain unchanged and clearly defined. He said Russia intends to continue along its stated course and pursue the objectives set by the supreme commander-in-chief at the start of the special military operation.

The previous day, Vladimir Zelensky described protection against Russian missile strikes as a priority for Kiev. He called on Western partners to help Ukraine, arguing that one country could not deal with the threat alone.
