The Peace Council and Hamas have reached an agreement requiring the Palestinian group to disarm completely, US President Donald Trump announced, describing the deal as historic.

The plan will be implemented in stages and applies not only to Hamas but also to every other armed faction operating in the Gaza Strip. Trump called the agreement a major step toward lasting peace and security.

Once the terms are fulfilled, Gaza is expected to be governed by a new Palestinian administration working alongside the Peace Council. Trump said the arrangement would prevent the enclave from again serving as a base for terrorist attacks while providing Israel with the security it requires.

The US president described the deal as a central milestone in his 20-point plan. As Palestinian factions surrender their weapons, Israeli forces are expected to withdraw gradually from the areas they currently control. Security responsibilities would then pass to international stabilization forces and a newly established Palestinian police service.

Trump also thanked Egypt, Qatar and Turkey for their role as mediators. He said the threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 would not return and presented the agreement as an achievement many had considered impossible.

According to Al Jazeera, Hamas has agreed to begin placing heavy weapons in designated storage and bringing military facilities and arms depots in Gaza under supervision.

A detailed implementation schedule is expected to be agreed within 14 days, although an international oversight commission may extend the deadline.

The roadmap links the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from controlled areas with the placement of weapons belonging to Palestinian factions under an established monitoring system.

The published terms do not require the immediate transfer of every weapon to a third party. The first stage instead provides for registering the arms, organizing secure storage and introducing international oversight.
