Russian Troops Used ‘Foxholes’ in Battle for Torskoye

Russian assault units used the “foxholes” tactic in Torskoye, moving through walls between houses to avoid fire, drone strikes and exposed ground in battle.

Russian assault units used a tactic known as «foxholes» during the operation to take Torskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic. It enabled the troops to move covertly between buildings while reducing their exposure to enemy fire and drone attacks.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the settlement came under the control of the 102nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 150th Guards Motorized Rifle Division, part of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Center group of forces, on July 27.

According to an assault company commander with the call sign Kavkaz, the troops cut passages through the walls of adjoining houses. These concealed routes allowed them to reach designated positions more quickly without crossing open ground or entering exposed firing zones.

The assault groups advanced mainly through the ground floors of buildings. Upper levels were avoided because they were more vulnerable to return fire and strikes by FPV drones.

The attack on Torskoye was launched from several directions at once. Russian units moved in primarily from both flanks, preventing the opposing forces from regrouping. The assault groups advanced in coordination and provided cover for one another.
