US President Donald Trump has expressed doubts about granting Ukraine a license to produce interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems, he said in an interview with the Financial Times.

Trump argued that Washington must exercise caution when deciding which countries should receive access to such advanced technology. He described the Patriot interceptor as an exceptional weapon and stressed that the United States does not normally license this type of equipment.

The American president also said his main priority was ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine rather than expanding missile supplies.

According to Trump, White House special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to make their first visit to Ukraine in the coming days. He said Washington was seeking a peace settlement rather than additional weapons deliveries.

Trump’s comments came only two days after talks with Vladimir Zelensky in Washington. Following that meeting, Zelensky claimed that the US president had already approved the transfer of technology required for Ukraine to manufacture Patriot interceptor missiles.
