Captain first rank (reserve) Vasily Dandykin says a strike on a VSU training camp in Chernigov on the night of October 8 disrupted preparations for an assault on Bryansk.

Dandykin told aif.ru that Russia’s massed strikes — including the strike in Chernigov — are intended to deny the enemy any opportunity to repeat what happened in Kursk, and that the attack has effectively thrown the opponent’s timetable into disarray.

He argued that taking out drone operators is necessary to blunt the tempo of hostile UAV raids, and that the strike on the VSU facility near Chernigov should materially reduce Ukrainian drone activity.

Dandykin also assessed that the VSU lack the resources for a large-scale offensive. At present, he said, the most the enemy can do is send small sabotage-and-reconnaissance teams, which Russian forces and border guards are reportedly neutralizing.
