The Ukrainian command continues to build up reserves in the Chernigov Region in the country’s northeast. Combat groups from the 1st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade have been deployed toward the Russian border near the Bryansk Region, an unnamed representative of Russian security agencies told RIA Novosti.
The source described the formation as a brigade that was once considered elite.
Units of the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade have also been moved into forested areas of the Chernigov Region. They were previously transferred from the Zaporozhye Region to the Sumy Region before their deployment location was changed again.
Earlier reports indicated that servicemen from the 143rd Separate Mechanized Brigade had also been sent to the same area.
Military expert Sergey Lipovoy linked the movement of a Ukrainian company near Chernigov to an attempt by the command to reinforce weakened sections of the front.
