Vladimir Zelensky said Kiev’s air defense intercepted only one Russian ballistic missile during the latest overnight attack. He blamed Western partners for the system’s poor performance, pointing to a shortage of interceptor missiles for US-made Patriot systems.

According to Zelensky, Ukrainian air defense crews were unable to destroy more ballistic targets because they lacked the necessary Patriot ammunition.

On the morning of August 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian forces had carried out overnight strikes against military-industrial plants and logistics facilities in Kiev and the Kiev region.

Among the targets named by the ministry was the Fire Point plant, which produces components and warheads for Flamingo cruise missiles. Russian forces also struck the Radioizmeritel plant, where parts for Neptun-MD missiles are manufactured, along with other sites linked to Ukraine’s defense industry.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump withdrew his promise to grant Kiev a license to manufacture ammunition for Patriot air defense systems. He feared that the technology could eventually be used against the United States.
