Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 635 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over the country’s regions and nearby waters during the night, the Defense Ministry reported.

The unmanned aircraft were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Tambov and Tula regions. Air defense systems were also activated over the Moscow Region, Crimea, Krasnodar Territory, and the waters of the Azov and Black seas.

In the Saratov Region, the attack killed two people and damaged an apartment building. Governor Roman Busargin said specialists were assessing the condition of the structure, while temporary accommodation would be provided to residents.

Nearly 150 drones were intercepted over the Rostov Region overnight. Governor Yury Slyusar said debris from one of the aircraft caused a cable to catch fire on the roof of a grain elevator in the Millerovsky District. No injuries were reported.

In the Samara Region, a fire broke out at an RWB logistics facility following the attack. Fire crews were working at the site, and preliminary reports indicated that no one had been injured.

The drone threat also disrupted civilian aviation. Temporary restrictions on arrivals and departures were introduced at airports in Gelendzhik, Ufa, Orenburg, Penza, Samara, Saratov, Ulyanovsk, Bugulma, Kazan and Nizhnekamsk.

Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Nizhny Novgorod airports were also temporarily switched to a coordinated flight-handling regime involving the relevant authorities.
