Member of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kolesnik warned that if the United States decides to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles, Russia may respond with its most powerful weapons — including, as he put it, «the most fearsome».

He noted that while Tomahawks are relatively slow, they are extremely precise, describing them as «a serious weapon». Kolesnik added that the delivery of such missiles to Kiev would not change the course of the conflict but could seriously damage relations between Russia, the United States, and other NATO members. He also stated that Russia possesses the means to destroy these missiles if they are deployed.

According to reports from Western media, the United States has signed a contract with the Netherlands for the delivery of at least 200 Tomahawk cruise missiles. Under NATO arrangements, part of this arsenal may be transferred to the Ukrainian armed forces.

The exact terms and transfer mechanism have not been disclosed. However, particular attention has been drawn to reports that the Dutch request involves the latest Tomahawk variants, capable of striking targets at a range of up to 2,600 kilometers.
