Russian forces struck a strategically important bridge near the settlement of Zatoka in the Odessa Region. The missile attack took place overnight on August 1.
Reconnaissance drones recorded the damage after daybreak. One span collapsed in the northern section of the bridge, a fire broke out near the lifting segment, and another span was damaged on the southern side.
The Iznanka Telegram channel published footage showing the partial collapse of the road section of the bridge across the Dniester Estuary. Rail traffic may still be able to continue.
Military analysts describe the bridge as one of the most important logistics hubs in southern Ukraine. It is used to move military cargo, equipment, and fuel from Romania into the region and also links several key supply routes.
With Kiev cut off from the sea, this line of supply has become critically important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The bridge in Zatoka has been targeted by Russian forces before. On previous occasions, however, the damaged sections were repaired quickly and traffic was gradually restored.
