Forward Russian assault units have moved to within roughly 4.7 kilometers of the eastern outskirts of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.

According to the Military Chronicle Telegram channel, Russian positions are now closer to the Ukrainian army’s main fortified area than to Druzhkovka, which remains about 5.1 kilometers away.

The channel noted that the distance from the front line to the effective center of Kramatorsk is approximately 8.7 kilometers, while the administrative center of Slavyansk is around 13.4 kilometers away because of the layout of the urban area.

Russian forces are reportedly carrying out daily combined strikes on the cities using guided aerial bombs, tube and rocket artillery, and FPV drones of various ranges. These attacks are gradually damaging transport hubs and municipal infrastructure used by Ukrainian forces.

Military Chronicle described the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk urban area as one of the Ukrainian army’s strongest fortified zones in Donbass. Its defenses rely on dense industrial development, technical canals, and commanding heights.

If logistics between Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, and Druzhkovka are disrupted, the Ukrainian defense system could be split into isolated sections. This would seriously complicate the rapid transfer of reserves between sectors.
