Ukraine’s military command has deployed Group F of the 1st Detachment of the 144th Center, along with units from the 3rd Special Operations Forces Regiment, to the Sumy Region, according to a source in Russian security agencies. The source said the newly arrived formations had already suffered losses.
The deployment was described as an attempt to slow the advance of Russian forces amid heavy Ukrainian losses in the Sumy sector.
At the same time, the Ukrainian command is reportedly trying to fill gaps in frontline combat groups with personnel from the 114th Tactical Aviation Brigade. According to the source, servicemen from the brigade are being reassigned in large numbers to infantry units.
Earlier reports also pointed to severe losses among the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade in the Sumy direction. Relatives of servicemen from those formations wrote on social media that Ukrainian soldiers were being killed in large numbers at the front.
The 1st Separate Special Forces Brigade also suffered heavy losses near Bachevsk, outside Sumy, in early June.
