A T-90M tank fitted with the Arena-M active protection system is reportedly undergoing trials at a testing ground near Uralvagonzavod, part of the Rostec state corporation.

Footage of the vehicle was highlighted by the Military Chronicle Telegram channel. Its authors suggested that tanks produced by the plant may receive different combinations of additional protection.

Some vehicles could be equipped with the standard Arena-M system, while others may receive upgraded anti-drone structures, reinforced explosive reactive armor and extra protection against shaped-charge munitions.

In July, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported that a modernized T-72B3A carrying the Arena-M system had appeared in the special military operation zone.

During the same month, the Military Informant Telegram channel drew attention to a T-90M equipped with a similar protection system. The tank was being transported on a trailer along a public road in Russia.

The T-90M Proryv is a heavily upgraded version of the Soviet-designed T-72, reworked to meet current requirements for armored vehicles. Its primary weapon is the 125 mm 2A46M-5 smoothbore gun, designed to engage tanks, other armored vehicles, infantry and a range of ground targets.

The vehicle can also launch guided missiles, allowing it to strike targets at extended ranges.

The crew and internal systems are protected by multilayer composite armor. This is reinforced by the Relikt explosive reactive armor system and active protection equipment intended to counter incoming munitions.

The T-90M combines firepower with mobility and maneuverability. Crew stations are fitted with modern equipment, while onboard life-support systems are designed to improve operational effectiveness.

Its survivability relies on a combination of conventional armor, explosive reactive protection and active defensive systems. The tank also features a modern fire-control system, regarded as one of its key advantages.
